Navlečený do čistého vlněného svetru vyrazil Charles vstříc velkoměstu – haha – a nechal nás napospas divočině.

_MG_2657

Už v půlce ranního kafe mi nebylo dobře, a po druhém balíčku posmrkaných kapesníčků mě Honza odvelel zpátky do postele a šel mi raději uvařit čaj. Nejsevernější sever nám prý neuteče a on si beztak potřebuje udělat pořádek ve fotkách. Inu, nebráním se, na to nemám dost sil, a zalézám zpátky do peřin. Každodenní šílené přejezdy si vybraly svou daň a koupání v ledovém oceánu mi asi moc nepřidalo.

My ne! My jdeme dál, tušíme, že to bude stát  za to, jelikož nám to Charles poradil a my mu věříme.

A opravdu.

IMG_1494

Stovky mořských ptáků, jaké jsme nikdy předtím neviděli asi ani v zoo, volně poletujících z hnízda na ostrov, z ostrova na pevninu a zase zpátky nad vodu. Nádhera!

IMG_1491

Rozbíjíme tábor, Honza vytahuje všechna svá  fotografická fidlátka a já si lehám pohodlně mezi dva měkoučké travnaté drny do růžových kytiček.

_MG_2591

Není tady slyšet nic kromě nespoutaného příboje oceánů a neúnavného ptačího křiku a štěbetání.

Ach!

IMG_20160602_144304

Srkáme čaj a pivínko, užíváme si nepopsatelně dechberoucího výhledu a klevetíme s Charlesem. Sbohem oceáne a ovečky. Snad sem zase někdy přijedeme.

_MG_2665

A jedeme zpátky do Newbridge.

Cesta zpátky proběhla za bouřlivého proklínání našeho vraku, kterým jsme se irskými končinami plavili. Zažili jsme si s tím autem svoje. Obsluhy na benzínkách padaly smíchy, my jsme se smáli někdy více, jindy méně. Méně třeba teď, na cestě zpátky, kdy začaly brzdy vydávat velmi nepříjemné skřípavé zvuky a volant vibroval jako šílený. Přežili jsme nakonec i cestu, i výsměch obsluhy u čerpací stanice, kde jsme doplňovali olej.

A byli jsme smutní i nadšení zároveň. Třeba do Rumunska. Tak se těšte a čtěte s námi! 🙂

ROAD TRIP IRELAND – DAYS 7 AND 8

We successfully survived the sleep on a mattress with no bed and in the morning we – of course – woke up into beautiful sunny day.

_MG_2663

Charles made us a coffee and healthy Irish breakfast – if there’s something like „healthy Irish breakfast“ – and told us enthusiastically he’s going to the big town today so he’ll be back in the evening. When we asked about the key, he started to laugh. He explained to us that he locks only front door, but we don’t need the key cause back door are always unlocked, so we don’t have to worry about that. Then, wearing a clean woolen jumper, he hit the road towards the big town – hahaha – and he left us to the wild.

_MG_2657

We haven’t really plan the seventh day before, because somehow we knew we could use some extra free time and no program. And so it was. While drinking my morning coffee I realized I feel very bad and after the second pack of tissuess John put me back to bed and made me a cup of tea. The northernmost north wont run away from us, he said. And he wanted to sort his photos anyway. So I stayed in bed and I didn’t mind it at all. Long distance driving every day took its toll and so did the swimming in a cold ocean. Two teapots and three hours later I forced myself to take a shower, to pack my backpack and go. Luckily the northernmost tip of Ireland is five minutes drive from the cottage so even I was able to get there.

_MG_2395

On the rock by the coast, where is the old stony tower symbolizing the northernmost spot of this country, we found a guidepost.

IMG_1391

We had a choice. We could go right on the sidewalk straight to the tower with all these tourists, or we could go left to the Hells Hole. As usuall, we are trying to avoid tourists so we decided for the way Charles told us to take, to the Hells Hole along the coast.

IMG_1392

We couldn’t wonder enough, how wild and unrestrained was it here. The ocean was everywhere, simply as far as we could see. And around us nothing but flocks of sea birds and bunches of pink and yellow flowers. I didn’t know the name of any of these birds and flowers, but I didn’t care at all.

IMG_1449

From time to time we didn’t follow the path and at our’s own risk we went to check the cliff’s edge little closer. For example when we saw a St. Patrick’s cross there, that looked like it was growing from some treasure chest.

_MG_2478

Pilgrims from all around the world leave coins here, so we stopped for a while to explore those strange unknow coins and we tried to guess where are they from. It was a pitty, we didn’t have any Czech coins with us, we would like to leave something from our country here too. Well, next time… We were climbing the rocks, taking pictures and just enjoying the beauty around us as much as we could.

IMG_1411

After about one kilometer walk we found out our path vanished. We could only continue around the AT YOUR’S OWN RISK sign, where all tourists usually turn around and go back. We didn’t! We went on cause we had a feeling it will be worth it since Charles told us about this place and we were sure he knows what he’s talking about.

PHOTO_20160602_133253-PANO

It was SO worth it! About a hundred metres and few rocky turns later we noticed a rocky island close to the shore that looked like something from a Jurasic Park movie. Cleft, sharp mountain of stone just few dozens metres from the land with hundreds of rifts and bird’s nests on it. Any person could hardly stand on this island, but that’s the reason why is this island so beautiful and wild and amazing.

IMG_1494

Hundreds of sea birds that we have never seen before, probably not even at zoo, were freely flying from nests to the island, from island to the land and back above the ocean. Splendid!

IMG_1491

We pitched camp, John unpacked all his photo-things and I lied down to the comfortable soft grass and pink flowers.

_MG_2591

We didn’t hear anything here but the wild ocean surf and tireless bird’s singing. So… Sun was shining, birds and ocean were singing and I… I woke up an hour later.

IMG_1497

John was still taking photos and we were both smiling like crazy people. We were feeling so well here and if we could, we would build a tent here and we would stay here ideally forever. Oh!

IMG_20160602_144304

On our way back we also stopped by the tower and we really didn’t understand, why would anyone stay rather here than by the wild bird’s island. Except the tower we found an information board and some names made of white stones. Well, to be honest, not only names…

_MG_2543

We’ve already found our northernmost and the prettiest north so we we walking back to the car to get back to cottage. I probably had a fever and we were both so full of impressions that the only thing we wanted to do in our last evening was sitting on the front bench and staring at the ocean.

_MG_2608

Quick stop at the gas station/shop/post office for all kinds of supplies. Then we just dropped by the curiosity store, where they were selling more likely the things found on the beach. And finally we went back to the cottage.

Even if was quite lazy day we liked it the most. It was like we’ve been livving here for ages with no hurry. We were drinking beer and tea, enjoying this inexpressible breathtaking view and having a nice chat with Charles. Good bye, ocean and sheep! Hope we will come back one day.

_MG_2665

At 8 in the morning we just quickly ate our breakfast, said our warmest goodbyes to Charles and promised we will stay in touch and we will surely come back in future. I hope it’s true. Last view at sheep, wild rocky cliffs and azure blue ocean slowly changing into the same azure blue sky. That’s it. We are comming back to Newbridge.

On the way back we were praying to all gods for our car, cause there were some times, when we really didn’t believe it will make it all the way to Newbridge. Gas station stuff was always laughing at us and we were also laughing… well… mostly. We weren’t laughing now on the way back, when breaks were making very wierd sound and the steering wheel started to vibrate. But after all, we survived the lughing and the way so everything was all right. You know, nobody could expect we borrowed a wreck and bring back the yacht. (Triona, we love you for that, you know it, right? 🙂 )

IMG_1484

So we safely got to Newbridge and we almost didn’t get lost on our way. Just once, when we turn wrong way and we passed the WELCOME IN NORTHERN IRELAND sign, we knew we were going wrong direction. We were sad and happy at the same time. We didn’t our trip to end because we could wonder around the Ireland forever. On the other hand we are plannig next trips, so right after I’ll write more about my Irish experience, we will set out for some other trip. Maybe to Romania.

So stay excited with us and read with us!
